All Hail the Old Gods
While many stompboxes fade into obscurity shortly after their releases, a select few have maintained their place in the pantheon across several generations of guitarists. The little yellow box that inspired the D++ is one of these hallowed devices: a foundational piece of gear whose DNA is present in many modern pedals.
Tone alchemist Zachary Randall couldn’t help but take a stab at crafting his version of the unassuming yellow box he saw his older relatives playing as a child. While remaining extremely faithful to the classic circuit, Zachary solved the problem of the meager output of the classic unit. The distortion knob produces a broader range of tones, and the volume knob doesn’t have to be cranked for the pedal to be effective.
The D++ can go from a dirty boost to crunchy overdrive to a searing, fuzzy distortion. The sound is pure, vintage aggression
All hail the old gods.
